What is the Net Zero Home Scheme?
The Net Zero Home Scheme is a free employee benefit for UK employers that gives staff member-only pricing on home clean energy technology. Employees get up to 15% off solar panels, battery storage, heat pumps, plug-in solar, EV charge points and smart energy tech, installed by vetted accredited installers nationwide. The employer pays nothing and runs nothing.
How much does it cost the employer?
Nothing. There is no licence fee, no funding, no minimum headcount and no payroll change. One short agreement gives your whole workforce access, and we handle launch comms, the employee portal and all employee questions.
How much can employees save?
Employees get up to 15% off the open-market price, and the technology then lowers their energy bills for as long as it runs. The bill saving depends on the home, the property type, the tariff and how much energy the household uses, so every quote shows that specific home's price and estimated saving rather than a generic figure.
Is this salary sacrifice or a payroll benefit?
No. The scheme sits entirely outside payroll. Employees buy directly from the accredited installer at member pricing, so there is no deduction, no P11D entry and nothing for payroll or finance to process.
What products are included?
Solar panels, battery storage, air source heat pumps, plug-in solar for renters and flats, EV charge points and smart energy technology, plus energy tariffs. New net zero technology is added as it becomes worth having, and scheme members get first access.
Does it work for employees who rent or live in flats?
Yes. Plug-in solar needs no permanent alteration, so renters and flat-dwellers can take it up straight away. Solar panels, batteries and heat pumps need the property owner's consent, and the quote confirms suitability before anything is booked.
How long does it take to launch?
Typically a week. You sign one agreement, we provide the launch email, intranet copy and FAQ, and your people can request a live online quote the same day it goes live.
How does an employee get a quote?
Online, in about two minutes. They enter their postcode, property type, how they heat the home and rough annual usage, and the member price appears on screen next to the open-market price with the accredited installer named. There is no phone call and no obligation to proceed.
Who carries the liability for installations?
The accredited installer, not the employer. The contract is between the employee and the installer, who holds the workmanship warranty, insurance-backed guarantee and consumer-code obligations. We manage escalations on the employee's behalf if anything goes wrong.
What reporting does the employer receive?
Anonymised, aggregate reporting only: take-up, installs completed and estimated carbon saved, which supports sustainability and ESG reporting. Individual quotes, addresses and personal data are never shared with the employer.
Are the installers vetted and accredited?
Yes. Every installer is vetted and MCS certified where the technology requires it, with insurance-backed guarantees and consumer-code membership. Employees are quoted competitively without cold calls or hard-sell tactics.
How does the scheme relate to the Warm Homes Plan?
It sits alongside it. Government support under the Warm Homes Plan reduces the cost of upgrades, and our member-only discount can be applied on top where an employee is eligible, so the two stack rather than compete.
